PREAMBLE

We, the members of the local church body, do declare and establish this constitution and by-laws to preserve our printciples of faith and secure the blessings of almighty God upon this institution to diligently conduct His business on earth. (Matt. 16:18-19; 1 Cor. 3:5-11)

 

ARTICLE I  -  NAME

Our name shall be THE HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH OF PIEDMONT, MO. (Matt. 9:35-38; John 4:34-38)

 

ARTICLE III  -  CHURCH COVENANT & ARTICLES OF FAITH

Our Covenant is listed below, and our articles of faith are commonly know as the New Hampshire confession of faith as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention in 1963. (I Cor.11:1-2; II Thess. 2:15)

 

ARTICLE IV  -  CHURCH MEMBERSHIP

Individuals who have received Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour, upon baptism, are members of Harvest Baptist.  Subjects may also join by their statement of said events, or by a letter of recommendation from another church of like faith.  All are subject to church approval before becoming members.  Any member not attending for 6 months is placed on an inactive list, and unable to vote on church business.  As soon as the member attends, they are taken off of the inactive roll and placed back on the active roll of members.  (Acts 2:41 8:26-27; 15:22-25; Hebrews 10:21-25)

 

ARTICALE V  -  CHURCH BUSINESS

The church may conduct business at any regularly scheduled meeting, or special meeting announced at least three times from the pulpit to the church.

 

A. The first Wednesday night after the first Sunday of each month shall be a regular time to discuss the business of the church.

B. The Pastor shall be the moderator of all business meetings of the church.  If not possible, the church shall call a moderator.

C. The church shall adhere closely to the procedures found in Robert’s Rules of Order.

D. The Pastor and Deacons shall serve as the board of directors for the corporation know as The Harvest Baptist Church or Piedmont, Missouri, and shall have authority only to lead the church in direction.

E. The Pastor shall serve the church as overseer of all services, activities, boards, or committees, unless otherwise provided by the church.

F. The church is an autonomous, self-governing body under authority to no man, denomination, or government.  We are under authority to the King James Version of the Holy Scriptures, and to the Lord Jesus Christ.  We will strive to be at peace with the world but not of this world. (Acts 15:22, 25, 28; 20:28-32: I Cor. 14:33, 40)
