Counseling services are confidential. This means that we will not confirm or deny your appointment attendance or what you share with a clinician without your expressed consent. If you want us to share information with parents, professors, or others, you can sign a Release of Information form that specifies what information we can share and with whom we can share it.
Limitations to confidentiality mainly involve safety-related concerns, and include:
- Imminent and foreseeable risk of suicide/ending your own life
- Imminent and foreseeable risk of harm to others
- Disclosures of abuse or neglect of a child, an elderly or disabled individual, or animal
- Disclosures of hazing as defined by Collin’s Law and ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓÆµâ€™s Hazing Prevention Policy
- As directed by subpoenas/court orders
